Erdtree Avatar
Erdtree Avatars are big, slow guardians that look like hollow tree stumps with arms. They appeared after the Shattering to protect the Minor Erdtrees, and you will find them under golden trees all over the Lands Between, swinging huge staffs and casting golden incantations.
In Caelid, the Dragonbarrow and the Consecrated Snowfield, the scarlet rot has reached them, and they have become Putrid Avatars. Almost every Avatar drops Crystal Tears for your Flask of Wondrous Physick, which makes them very worth hunting down.

How to beat it
Avatars are slow but hit hard. Stay close and behind them, roll through their big staff swings and punish afterwards. Watch for the golden incantations: a beam from the sky, homing golden orbs and a big holy shockwave around the body. Back off when it raises its staff high.
Putrid Avatars add rot clouds and rot attacks. Keep a cure ready.
