Skeleton

Skeletons rattle around almost everywhere in the Lands Between, in many forms and with all kinds of weapons: swords, shields, scythes, bows, crossbows and fire pots. There are giant versions, beast-like skeleton variants and catacomb skeletons too. Their signature trick is that they do not stay dead when their health runs out: they collapse and then pull themselves back together.

You find them in Limgrave, Liurnia of the Lakes, Caelid, the Mountaintops of the Giants and on the Altus Plateau, including Sage’s Cave. One unusual variant, the Gold Skeleton, can suddenly take flight; it lives almost only in a single graveyard in the Capital Outskirts. Skeletons also appear in the Realm of Shadow.

How to beat it

Blunt weapons shatter skeletons, and holy damage is even better. When one collapses, do not walk away: it will rise again. Keep hitting the pile of bones or use holy attacks so it stays down. As members of Those Who Live in Death, they are especially weak to Golden Epitaph, Shared Order and Holy Water Pots.

Watch for archers and fire pot throwers hanging back while the sword skeletons keep you busy. And if a golden skeleton suddenly lifts off the ground, do not panic.

Lore

Skeletons belong to Those Who Live in Death, the dead who refuse to stay dead.
