Liurnia of the Lakes
Liurnia of the Lakes is the moment the game opens up for real. You come out of the cliffs near Stormveil Castle, and below you lies an enormous misty lake, dotted with ruins, sunken towns and glowing blue trees. In the middle rises the Academy of Raya Lucaria, the great school of glintstone sorcery, and everything in the region seems to lean toward it.
The lake takes up most of the land, and much of the region is slowly sinking into it. The Bellum Highway runs along the eastern cliffs toward the Altus Plateau, and the western coast belongs to the Carian royal family, whose manor stands high above the water. It is a huge region with a lot of secrets, and some of the game’s most important stories, such as those of Ranni, Rennala and Sellen, run right through it.

How to get there
The usual way in is through Stormveil Castle, or along the cliffside path north of it that skips the castle completely. Either way you come out at the Lake-Facing Cliffs, looking down over the lake. You can also take the Bellum Highway north from the eastern side of Limgrave.
Lore
The region belongs, in spirit, to the Carian royal family and to the Academy. Long ago, Rennala charmed the Academy with her moon magic and made the house of Caria royalty. Later, Radagon of the Golden Order came to Liurnia as a conqueror, but he and Rennala ended up married at the Church of Vows. When he left her to become Marika’s consort, Rennala was left heartbroken, and the Academy shut its doors.
