Elden Ring Tarnished Edition

Everything added in Elden Ring Tarnished Edition and the Tarnished Pack: the Heavy Knight and Idus Knight classes, eight new weapons and shields, four armor sets, two invaders and three Torrent attires.

Elden Ring Tarnished Edition arrived with Patch 1.17 at the end of August 2026. On Nintendo Switch 2 the new content is built into the Tarnished Edition, and on PlayStation, Xbox and PC it comes as the Tarnished Pack add-on. It does not add a new region. Instead it scatters new classes, gear and secrets across the Lands Between you already know, so it works just as well for a fresh character as for an old save.

Here is everything it adds, with links to our full pages for stats, scaling and exact locations.

Two new starting classes

Both classes are already in our Build Planner and Level Calculator. You can also get their gear without picking the class: every piece is sold by a merchant or found in the world.

The Reverse-Bladed Sword and the Ritual Thrusting Shield are worth a special mention: they let you try backhand blades and thrusting shields, two weapon types from Shadow of the Erdtree, without owning the expansion.

New armor sets

Two new invaders

Torrent’s new looks

Three Spectral Steed Attires change how Torrent looks. They are purely cosmetic. Once you own one, rest at any Site of Grace to switch.

Good to know

  • The new content is spread over the base game map, so you meet most of it naturally on a normal playthrough.
  • The Noble Broken Mask may not appear on saves where the Radagon statue secret was revealed before the update. A save from before Leyndell burns, or a new journey, is the safe bet.
  • Want to plan around the new gear? Open the Build Planner and pick Heavy Knight or Idus Knight as your class.
