Limgrave
Limgrave is where the journey really starts. You climb out of the Stranded Graveyard, step into the light, and there it is: rolling green fields, golden trees, ruins half swallowed by grass and the huge shape of Stormveil Castle watching from the cliffs in the northwest. It is a beautiful place, and it is also where the game quietly teaches you that you are not the strongest thing out here.
The region sits in the southwestern corner of the Lands Between. Windy Stormhill rises to the north, the misty forest of Mistwood fills the east, and the rain-soaked Weeping Peninsula stretches away to the south. Godrick the Grafted rules all of it from Stormveil, while the rotting red lands of Caelid wait past the eastern border.
Take your time here. Limgrave is packed with small caves, catacombs and evergaols that hand out spirit ashes, talismans and upgrade materials, and almost everything you pick up will still be useful many hours later.

How to get there
You arrive in Limgrave automatically after the opening, by walking out of the Stranded Graveyard to the Site of Grace called The First Step. The Church of Elleh is just a short walk north, and that is the best first stop: a merchant, a smithing table and, once you have met Melina, your first spirit summons.
A few tips for the first hours: the golden knight riding along the road near the church is the Tree Sentinel, and he is meant to beat you. Come back for him later. At night, the black rider on the bridge north of Agheel Lake is a Night’s Cavalry, another fight best saved for when you have more levels.
Lore
Limgrave is Godrick’s domain. He holds the land from Stormveil, and his soldiers are spread over ruins and forts across the region. The bodies, broken carriages and empty villages you find along the roads are signs of how far things have fallen since the Shattering.
After Starscourge Radahn falls in Caelid, a great crater opens up near the Mistwood and Fort Haight, which is one of the few times the map of Limgrave changes.
