Curseblade
Curseblades are wiry, half-naked ascetics wearing a crown of tangled horns over their faces. They fight with a pair of curved, wheel-like blades and move in strange, frantic dances, and they love to drop on you from ledges and rooftops above.
For most players this is the very first enemy of Shadow of the Erdtree: one sits just northeast of the first grace in the Gravesite Plain. After that you keep running into them in Belurat, Tower Settlement, Scadu Altus (including the Recluses’ River), the Ancient Ruins of Rauh and Enir-Ilim.

How to beat it
Expect an ambush whenever you walk under a ledge in their territory, and look up before you commit to a narrow path. Their blade dances come in long, fast strings, so let the combo run out before you punish instead of trading hits.
They can also blow out a cloud of darkness, so do not stand right in front of one while it pauses. They hit hard for normal enemies and have a big health pool, so treat each one almost like a small duel.
Lore
Curseblades were ascetics of the tower who put their bodies through brutal discipline, hoping to rise as a tutelary deity. They failed, and instead became a scourge set loose on anyone who invaded the land of the Hornsent. Their horned masks were meant to sharpen the spirit and dull the mind so the Divine Beast could take hold, and in their ritual dances they cut themselves and spilled their own blood.
