Gravesite Plain
The Gravesite Plain is the first stretch of the Realm of Shadow you set foot in, and it sets the mood well: open fields scattered with graves, ruined settlements clinging to the cliffs, and golden Miquella’s Crosses marking the way. It is a big region, and a lot of the DLC’s early places hang off it, from Belurat, Tower Settlement and Castle Ensis to the Dragon’s Pit, the Church of Consolation and The Four Belfries.
Out in the open you will run into Bloodfiends in the cliffside ruins of Prospect Town, Inquisitors guarding a coffin northeast of the Scorched Ruins, a Black Knight in the Church of Consolation, and Logur prowling the south. A Ghostflame Dragon waits at a lake in the north, and the Ancient Dragon-Man can invade you on the road near the Pillar Path Waypoint, close to where Igon cowers.
Smaller spots worth a detour include the Abandoned Ailing Village in the north, the Elder’s Hovel and the Finger-Weaver’s Hovel. Mushrooms and other crafting plants grow almost everywhere, so keep your pouch open as you ride.

How to get there
This is where you arrive when you first enter the Realm of Shadow. From here roads lead on to Belurat, Castle Ensis and the rest of the land.
Lore
The plain takes its name from the countless graves that cover it. The Hornsent linger here too, and you can meet one at the Three-Path Cross, where he hands over a map of the nearby crosses.
