A quality build splits points evenly between Strength and Dexterity. It is one of the easiest builds to plan, because so many weapons need both stats. Here we use a Claymore with the Quality affinity and the curved greatsword Bloodhound's Fang, which also causes blood loss.
| Playstyle | Balanced greatsword melee |
|---|---|
| Starting class | Vagabond |
| Target level | 150 |
| Main weapon | Claymore |
| Damage | Physical (standard and slash) |
Stats at level 150
| Vigor | 60 |
|---|---|
| Mind | 15 |
| Endurance | 35 |
| Strength | 47 |
| Dexterity | 47 |
| Intelligence | 9 |
| Faith | 9 |
| Arcane | 7 |
Equal Strength and Dexterity get the most out of the Quality affinity. Two-handing the Claymore adds even more Strength. 60 Vigor and 35 Endurance keep you healthy and mobile.
Weapons
- Claymore with the Quality affinity at +25. Lion's Claw is a strong pick for stance damage.
- Bloodhound's Fang at +10. Its skill, Bloodhound’s Finesse, lets you slash and leap back out of danger.
Talismans
- Claw Talisman: stronger jump attacks, a great match for greatswords.
- Shard of Alexander: boosts your weapon skills.
- Erdtree's Favor +2: a little more HP, stamina and equip load.
- Green Turtle Talisman: faster stamina recovery so you can keep swinging.
Armor
We used Blaidd's Armor with matching gauntlets and greaves, which keeps you at a medium roll. Add a helm of your choice.
Spirit Ash
Mimic Tear Ashes brings a second greatsword to the fight.
How to play it
- Two-hand the Claymore for bigger hits and use jump attacks often.
- Switch to Bloodhound’s Fang against bosses that bleed.
- Use Lion’s Claw to break stance, then go for the critical hit.
- Quality builds can wield most melee weapons, so experiment freely.
Because both stats are balanced, almost any weapon on our weapons list fits this build.
Stats, equip load and attack ratings were checked with our Build Planner. Numbers are based on patch 1.09 data, so later balance patches may nudge them a little. Want to compare other setups? Browse all our builds.
