Azur’s Glintstone Staff

Azur’s Glintstone Staff is a demanding sorcery catalyst: it needs 52 Intelligence and scales at B with it. Its defining trait is that it makes sorceries cast faster, at the cost of extra FP per cast.

It suits a high-Int sorcerer who values speed over FP economy. It belonged to the primeval sorcerer Azur, and only those who have looked past the ordinary wisdom of stone can wield it.

Where to find it

Found in a secluded room on the highest level of the Church of the Cuckoo, reached over the rooftops of the Academy of Raya Lucaria.

From the Debate Parlor site of grace, head outside to the left until you find two sorcerers, then drop down the stairs beside them and keep going until you can jump onto the rooftops. Follow the rooftops and climb the ladder at the end. Afterwards, go back down onto the rooftops until you see a domed structure with windows, enter through a window and drop to the floor below. One exit leads to an enclosed bridge guarded by a High Page; the staff lies in the room behind him.

Item description & lore

The staff of Azur, one of the primeval glintstone sorcerers. It is said that only those who have seen what lies beyond the wisdom of stone may use it.

Notes & tips

  • Sorceries cost 20% more FP, but cast noticeably faster.
  • The faster casting applies to any spell while this staff is held in one of your active hands, even if you cast through another catalyst. It counts as 40 extra Dexterity for casting speed.
  • The speed boost covers both sorceries and incantations, but the FP penalty only affects sorceries, so faith casters can keep it in the off-hand for faster incantations.
  • Upgraded with Somber Smithing Stones.
