Lost Ashes of War

Lost Ashes of War let you duplicate an Ash of War you already own, so you can put the same skill on more than one weapon at once. You hand them to Smithing Master Hewg to make the copies.

There are only 15 per playthrough, so it pays to think about which ash you really want to duplicate.

Bought from merchants:

1 from the Isolated Merchant in his shack in the Weeping Peninsula.
1 from the Isolated Merchant south of the Main Academy Gate Site of Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes.
2 from the Isolated Merchant at the top of the mountain in northwestern Dragonbarrow.
1 from the Hermit Merchant at the Uhl Palace Ruins in the Ainsel River area.
1 from the Imprisoned Merchant in Mohgwyn Palace.

Found in the world (partial list):

In front of a small building at the bottom of a lift beneath the academy in Liurnia of the Lakes.
On a cliff beside two singing bats, reached by the elevator down from the Ruin-Strewn Precipice Overlook Site of Grace at the Ruin-Strewn Precipice.
On a corpse at the front door of Leyndell, Royal Capital.

Item description & lore

Hollow ashes of war that hold no memories of combat. Smithing Master Hewg of the Roundtable Hold can use them to remake other ashes, and in this way a copy becomes the real thing.
