Ash of War: Bloodhound’s Step

Bloodhound’s Step swaps your normal dodge for a quick, almost invisible dash that covers more ground than a quickstep. When you are locked on, it carries you around the side of your target. It costs very little FP and goes on almost every melee weapon, which is why so many players treat it as their default skill for a large part of the game.

It grants the Keen affinity, so it suits Dexterity builds especially well. A Uchigatana with Bloodhound’s Step is a popular combination.

Notes & tips

  • Works with the Standard and Keen affinities from the start. Heavy and Quality open up with the Iron Whetblade, Fire and Flame Art with the Red-Hot Whetblade, Lightning and Sacred with the Sanctified Whetblade, Magic and Cold with the Glintstone Whetblade, and Poison, Blood and Occult with the Black Whetblade.
  • Brilliant for slipping through big sweeping attacks, since you cover a lot of distance in a short, safe burst.
