Troll Knight

Troll Knights are Trolls who serve the Carian royal family. Long ago they swore an oath to Rennala, and when the queen called on that oath they took up arms as full knights of Caria, fighting side by side with their human comrades. You can tell them from ordinary trolls by their helmets and the huge greatswords set with blue glintstone.

You find them in Liurnia of the Lakes, at Caria Manor and at Castle Ensis in the Realm of Shadow. Some of them now appear as blue spirit puppets, and at The Four Belfries you can meet headless, ghostly Troll Knights who cut off their own heads so they could keep standing guard after death.

How to beat it

Don’t expect a regular troll fight. Troll Knights mix their greatsword swings with Carian sorcery, so keep an eye out for glintstone magic even when you think you have backed off to a safe distance. Their helmets also take away the usual troll weak spot, so aiming for the head gives you no bonus damage. Be patient, wait out their big swings and punish the recovery.

Lore

These knights fought next to the young Rennala and helped push back the forces of Radagon twice during the Liurnian wars. The Carian sorcery Greatblade Phalanx is said to have been used by these enchanted troll knights.
