Summoning Pools, also called Effigies of the Martyr, are the statues that make multiplayer work in Elden Ring. Once you activate one, it collects other players’ summon signs, both for co-op and for duels, and you can find one in nearly every area of the Lands Between and the Realm of Shadow.
What a Summoning Pool looks like
Look for a small statue of a crucified figure bound to a stone stake. The stake is shaped like Marika’s Elden Rune and has ley lines carved into its pedestal. You have to touch the statue to activate it before it does anything for you.
Finding help: seeing summon signs
Summon signs only show up while a Furlcalling Finger Remedy is active. Use one near a pool and you will see the signs other players have placed there, golden ones for cooperators and red ones for duelists.
Offering help: placing your own sign
You can put your sign out to many pools at once, near and far, without walking to each one:
- The Small Golden Effigy sends your golden co-op sign to Summoning Pools. It is the pool-based version of the Tarnished’s Furled Finger.
- The Small Red Effigy sends your red duelist sign to Summoning Pools. It is the pool-based version of the Duelist’s Furled Finger.
This is one of the easiest ways to get summoned, since signs gather at the pools where players are most likely to be looking for help.
Tips
- Activate every pool you walk past. A pool only works for you once it is activated.
- Pools pair well with Stakes of Marika and Sites of Grace: rest, call in help, and you are back in the fight quickly if it goes wrong.
- Some Great Runes are built around multiplayer, most notably Mohg’s Great Rune, which gives summoned phantoms a blessing of blood.
