Thops’s Barrier

Thops’s Barrier puts up a small magic forcefield in front of you that bounces away incoming sorceries and incantations. Holding the cast keeps the barrier up as fresh shields.

At 18 Intelligence and only 7 FP it is cheap to run. It is a niche, defensive pick, mostly for duels against other casters, but it can be very satisfying when you time it right.

Where to find it

A quest reward of sorts from Thops. Give him the Spare Academy Glintstone Key, and he later dies just outside the schoolhouse classroom in the Academy of Raya Lucaria. The sorcery is on his body.

Item description & lore

This barrier was the life’s work of Thops the Bluntstone. Other sorcerers sneered at his theory, but he believed later students would see it as a discovery worthy of the academy, and that his mockers would look foolish in hindsight.
