Equip Load

Equip Load in Elden Ring decides your roll speed. Light, Medium and Heavy load thresholds, Endurance table and talismans that raise it.

Equip Load is the total weight of your equipped weapons and armor compared with the maximum you can carry. The heavier you are relative to that maximum, the slower and clumsier your dodge roll. You raise the maximum by leveling Endurance.

Load thresholds

Load Share of max Equip Load What it means
Light Load Under 30% Fastest roll, travels the furthest
Medium Load 30% to 70% Same invincibility and recovery as Light, shorter distance
Heavy Load Over 70% Recovery almost twice as long, slower Stamina regen, more fall damage
Overloaded Over 100% No roll or backstep at all, only a short stumble

Your current load type is shown right under the weight numbers in the equipment menu.

How Endurance raises Equip Load

Soft caps are at 25 and 60. You gain about 1.6 per point below 26, between 1.0 and 1.4 from 26 to 38, around 1.5 from 39 to 60, and about 1.0 per point after 60.

Starting classes

The Prophet has the lowest starting Equip Load thanks to 8 Endurance, while the Samurai has the highest with 13. Every class starts at Medium Load except the Vagabond, whose heavy starting armor puts it in Heavy Load.
