Patches

Patches is a cheerful, cowardly, utterly untrustworthy bandit, and a familiar face for anyone who has played FromSoftware’s earlier games. You first meet him leading a gang in Murkwater Cave in Limgrave, where he fights you until he is losing and then begs for his life.

Spare him and he becomes a merchant, selling useful items like Margit’s Shackle. He will try to trick you again. He always does. And somehow it is hard to stay angry with him.

Questline

  1. Murkwater Cave. Fight him until he surrenders. Spare him and his shop opens.
  2. Liurnia of the Lakes. He shows up again with a new trick waiting for you.
  3. Volcano Manor. He joins the Recusants and gives you a request of his own.

Fate & endings

Killing Patches gives you his Bell Bearing, a Spear +7 and his Leather Set. Sparing him keeps him around for more scheming.
