Blackflame Monk

Blackflame Monks are Fire Monks who abandoned their duty to the Giants’ Flame and turned to the black flame that kills gods.

Two of them guard the Divine Tower of Caelid in Greyoll’s Dragonbarrow. Another one, armed with a flamemace, guards the Temple of Eiglay inside Volcano Manor on Mt. Gelmir.

How to beat it

Blackflame Monks hit hard. Luckily they have weaknesses. You can parry them, backstab them, and land a critical hit once you break their stance. A shield with a parry or a fast weapon that breaks stance works very well here.

Lore

These monks betrayed their role as guardians of the Giants’ Flame to worship the black flame of Destined Death, the flame of the Gloam-Eyed Queen. Blackflame Monk Amon was the first to swear himself to it, though some say he simply fled out of cowardice. You can summon his spirit with the Blackflame Monk Amon ashes.
