Elder Lion

Elder Lions are massive beasts with horns on their heads. Some of the battered ones carry curved swords. They do not respawn, and you usually find them in places tied to the Banished Knights, Starscourge Radahn and the Golden Lineage.

You meet them in Stormveil Castle, at Fort Gael, on the southern shore of the Swamp of Aeonia, at Redmane Castle, on the Altus Plateau, in the Capital Outskirts, in Leyndell, Royal Capital and at Castle Sol.

How to beat it

An Elder Lion is a mini-boss, not a regular enemy. Its signature move is a somersault strike that comes crashing down on you, so watch for it and dodge as it lands. Stay near its flank, hit it after its big attacks and back off when it starts a new combo.

Since they do not come back, take your time and kill any nearby soldiers first so you can focus on the lion.

Lore

The Elder Lions were blessed by the primordial Crucible with horns full of spiritual power. Their pelts were treasured and worn by chosen Divine Beast Warriors in fierce lion dances, and Serosh, the hornless golden lion, became the regent of Lord Godfrey and a symbol of the Golden Lineage. The Lion’s Claw technique used by Radahn and his Redmanes copies the Elder Lions’ somersault strike.
