Maleigh Marais, Shaded Castle Castellan

Maleigh Marais is lord of The Shaded Castle, a stronghold run by executioners for generations. You meet him as a hostile NPC just west of the castle on the Altus Plateau.

He fights with an Antspur Rapier and an Erdtree Seal, casting Poison Mist, and wears the Marais Mask, Marais Robe, Bloodsoaked Manchettes and Consort’s Trousers.

Lore

Marais once worshipped the scarlet rot in private, and later became fixated on Malenia. His own sickly bloodline played a part: he admired her for staying strong despite her own affliction.

You can see this obsession inside the castle, where the castellan’s hall is filled with prosthetic limbs, Cleanrot armour and a large portrait of Malenia.

Notes & tips

  • Watch for the Antspur Rapier’s scarlet rot buildup and the Poison Mist: bring cures for both.
