Diallos’s Questline

Knight Diallos is the younger brother of Juno Hoslow, a son of a famously bloody house who was always more talk than action. When you meet him he is searching for his missing servant Lanya. His search drags him to Volcano Manor and, in the end, to the gentle living jars of Jarburg.

It is a short questline with very little walking, mostly about checking in on him at the right moments. It ends with his mask and his whip, and with one of the more quietly moving deaths in the game.

Rewards

Walkthrough

  1. Meet him at the Roundtable Hold (optional). On your first visit to the Roundtable Hold, Diallos asks you to keep an eye out for his servant Lanya, who has gone missing.
  2. Find him near Academy Gate Town. In Liurnia of the Lakes, Diallos stands northwest of the Academy Gate Town Site of Grace. Talk to him until he runs out of words.
  3. Back to the Roundtable Hold. Diallos returns to the Hold. Speak to him and he tells you where Volcano Manor is.
  4. See him among the Recusants. After you join Tanith’s Recusants, Diallos turns up in the drawing room of Volcano Manor. Once you have defeated Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy or finished one of Tanith‘s requests, talk to him again until he has nothing more to say. See the Volcano Manor Questline for the requests.
  5. Visit Jarburg. After he leaves the manor, Diallos moves to Jarburg in Liurnia, where he becomes the new potentate of the living jars. His arrival is tied to Jar-Bairn, so talk to the little jar on each visit.
  6. Return for the ending. Rest at a Site of Grace five times and go back to Jarburg. Diallos lies dying after driving off the jar poachers. Speak to him, then reload the area to collect Diallos’s Mask and Hoslow’s Petal Whip.

Missable steps & failure conditions

  • Killing him ends the story early. He drops the same mask and whip if you kill him at Academy Gate Town or in Jarburg, so nothing is truly lost, but you miss the rest of his story.
  • The manor talk needs progress. His conversation at Volcano Manor only moves on after you have finished one of Tanith’s requests or defeated Rykard.
  • Jarburg needs time. His move to Jarburg depends on progress in Jar-Bairn’s questline, and the ending only comes after five rests at a Site of Grace. If nothing has changed, keep resting and checking back.

Endings & consequences

  • Diallos dies a hero. He falls defending Jarburg from the poachers, having saved many of the jars and, for once, lived up to the name of his house.
  • Jar-Bairn. Diallos’s last stand inspires Jar-Bairn to become a warrior who protects others. The little jar’s story goes on with Alexander‘s Innards.
  • Juno Hoslow. Diallos’s older brother is one of Tanith’s targets in the Volcano Manor Questline.
