The Shaded Castle

The Shaded Castle is a gloomy fortress sinking into a poisonous swamp in the north of the Altus Plateau. For generations it belonged to House Marais, a family of executioners and castellans whose sons were always born sickly. Basilisks, perfumers and Cleanrot Knights now roam its halls.

The castle’s lord is Elemer of the Briar, a hulking knight wrapped in thorny armor, who waits in the Castellan’s Hall. Hidden in the castle is the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis, the arm of a certain famous swordswoman, and the castle’s story is tied closely to her.

How to get there

Ride north across the Altus Plateau, past the Woodfolk Ruins and toward Mt. Gelmir. The castle sits in the swamp at the edge of the plateau.

Lore

Maleigh Marais, one of the castle’s sickly sons, became obsessed with Malenia and claimed he could feel her presence when he held the Valkyrie’s Prosthesis.
