Dragonlord Placidusax

Dragonlord Placidusax was the Elden Lord of an age long before the Erdtree, a many-headed dragon king who ruled from Crumbling Farum Azula. He still waits there, in a storm beyond time, for a god who left him long ago.

He is completely optional and very easy to miss, but finding him is one of the best secrets in the game. The fight itself is a wild storm of red lightning, fire and teleporting dragon heads.

How to beat it

Finding him. From the Beside the Great Bridge grace, go north and down the slope, and drop down from a broken part of the bridge. Inside his tomb, interact with the beastman statue and lie down. The storm rewinds time and takes you to him.

Phase 1. He opens with a storm of red lightning. In front, he swipes with lightning claws. From the side, he slams with his wings. Behind him, he sweeps with his tail. His fire breath covers a huge area, so get under or behind him when he rears up.

Phase 2. He now vanishes into the fog and reappears in thunderclouds above the arena, diving down at you. He also teleports in short bursts, attacking with his claws in between. Keep moving and stay close when he lands.

Lore

Placidusax once had five heads, and only two remain. His god fled, and ever since he has waited in the storm for that god to return.

One of his old enemies, Bayle the Dread, still carries two of his lost heads on his neck in the Land of Shadow.

Notes & tips

  • His remembrance can be traded for Dragon King’s Cragblade or Placidusax’s Ruin.
