Baleful Shadow
The Baleful Shadow is an assassin sent by the Two Fingers to deal with Ranni the Witch, the Empyrean who turned her back on them. It is a twisted shadow of Blaidd the Half-Wolf: it wears a Black Wolf Mask in imitation of him and swings a greatsword carrying the power of Destined Death.
You run into it once, as part of Ranni’s questline, on the way from the Ainsel River Main down to the Lake of Rot, close to the Nokstella Waterfall Basin Site of Grace.

Resists magic, with some resistance to lightning and holy
Immune to Madness and Death Blight
How to beat it
It fights like Blaidd, using the same moves with a Royal Greatsword-style blade that deals standard and holy damage. It is a fair duel: you can backstab it, stagger it, parry it and riposte it. Be aware that it heals itself, and how many times depends on how many Sacred Flasks you carry. It drops no items.
Lore
Ranni explains that she and the Two Fingers have been cursing each other ever since she rejected them, and the Baleful Shadows are their killers. War Counselor Iji fears the same fate for Blaidd, who was made as Ranni’s shadow and may turn on her if she defies the Two Fingers.
