Two Fingers

The Two Fingers are large, ancient, hand-like beings with a slight hollow in the palm and two finger-like appendages. Standing upright, those fingers look almost like heads with long, wispy white hair. Bowed with age, they are falling apart, their flesh exposed and covered in sores.

There are seven of them in the Lands Between. The first is in Roundtable Hold, behind doors that stay shut until you hold your first Great Rune, with Finger Reader Enia sitting nearby. Five sit dormant and lifeless atop the Divine Towers. The seventh, the one that chose Ranni, is hidden beneath the Cathedral of Manus Celes.

Questline

Fate & endings

During Ranni’s questline, she kills the Two Fingers beneath the Cathedral of Manus Celes with the Fingerslayer Blade to free herself from its control completely.

Lore

The Two Fingers are the children of Metyr, Mother of Fingers, and they act as the Greater Will‘s divine envoys in the Lands Between. They choose Empyreans, give them shadowbound beasts and guide them towards godhood and the Elden Ring. They are the source of the Baleful Shadows and of all Two Fingers incantations, and atop the Divine Towers they can restore the blessing of a Great Rune. They speak in a cipher-like language of light that only Finger Readers can understand.

Known Empyreans chosen by them include Malenia, Miquella, Ranni, the Gloam-Eyed Queen and Queen Marika herself. Not everyone trusts them: Count Ymir, for one, believes the Fingers are flawed, and that their instructions do not truly come from the Greater Will.

Notes & tips

  • You cannot hurt or kill the Two Fingers in normal play. Only the Fingerslayer Blade, in the hands of someone fated for it, can harm them.
  • Their burnt counterpart, serving the Frenzied Flame, is the Three Fingers.
