Metyr, Mother of Fingers

Metyr, Mother of Fingers is one of the strangest bosses in Elden Ring. She was the first star to fall upon the Lands Between, a daughter of the Greater Will who once received its messages. When those messages stopped, she began giving birth to the Fingercreepers you see all over the Land of Shadow.

She waits in the Finger Birthing Grounds, deep beneath the Cathedral of Manus Metyr on the Scadu Altus.

This boss is part of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. To reach the Land of Shadow, you first need to defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohgwyn Palace.

How to beat it

Phase 1. Metyr crawls around the arena and fires a beam from her eye. Fighting her from the front works better than circling behind her, because she punishes flanking in this phase.

Phase 2. She calls up her damaged microcosm and uses it to throw gravity magic. She can fly in this phase, which is hard on melee builds, so be patient and hit her when she lands.

Lore

The Two Fingers you know from the Roundtable Hold were part of the same line of messengers. Metyr’s silence explains a lot about why the Greater Will feels so far away.

Notes & tips

  • To reach her, advance Count Ymir‘s questline: ring the bells at the two other Finger Ruins, return to the cathedral, examine Ymir’s throne and climb down the ladder. Defeat Swordhand of Night Anna there, then ring the last bell.
  • She is the only boss that does not fade on defeat. She disappears into her microcosm instead.
