Sword of Night and Flame

One of the legendary armaments. This straight sword deals physical, magic and fire damage and needs 24 Intelligence and 24 Faith, so it is built for Intelligence/Faith hybrids.

Its unique skill, Night-and-Flame Stance, lets you follow up with a light attack to fire a Night Comet-style beam, or a heavy attack to sweep forward with a wave of flame.

Where to find it

In a locked tower room at Caria Manor in Liurnia of the Lakes. From the Manor Lower Level site of grace, go out onto the stone walkways and take the left fork. Follow it right, and about halfway across the last walkway look left for a roof you can jump to. Drop onto a second, lower roof. In one corner a ladder leads down into the tower, where a chest holds the sword.

A treasured heirloom of Caria Manor. The astrologers who came before the sorcerers lived on high mountaintops and thought of the Fire Giants as their neighbours.

Notes & tips

  • Its skill is widely considered one of the strongest in the game.
  • Magic and fire damage can each be boosted separately, so it can pay to pick one when preparing for a tough boss.
  • It can be hard to find other gear that scales well with both Intelligence and Faith.
