Sellen’s Questline
Sorceress Sellen was once the brightest student the Academy of Raya Lucaria ever had, until she was thrown out for chasing the forbidden primeval current of glintstone sorcery. The woman you meet in the cellar of the Waypoint Ruins is only a projection. Her real body lies in chains far to the south, and once the stars move again, her old immortality is gone.
Her questline sends you after her old masters Azur and Lusat, then has you smuggle her soul into a brand new body. It ends at the Academy with a choice between Sellen and Witch-Hunter Jerren. Sorcerers will love the spells and gear along the way.
Walkthrough
- Become her apprentice. Defeat the Mad Pumpkin Head in the cellar of the Waypoint Ruins in Limgrave. Sellen is waiting in that cellar. Talk to her and ask to learn glintstone sorceries. You get the Nod in Thought gesture and her shop opens.
- Find Primeval Sorcerer Azur. Beyond the Hermit Village on Mt. Gelmir, Azur gives you Comet Azur. Back at the Waypoint Ruins, choose to show Sellen his sorcery, ask for her story, agree to journey together, and then ask her a favour. She gives you the Sellian Sealbreaker.
- Find Primeval Sorcerer Lusat. Use the Sealbreaker on the sealed tunnel in the Sellia Hideaway in Caelid. Lusat sits behind it and gives you Stars of Ruin. Telling Sellen where he is earns you Starlight Shards, but you can save that talk for later.
- Visit her real body. After you defeat Starscourge Radahn, Sellen reveals that her true body is held in the Witchbane Ruins on the Weeping Peninsula. Go there, talk to the shackled Sellen and accept her Primal Glintstone.
- Meet the witch-hunter. Reload the area and go back down to find Jerren there. He only shows up if you spoke to him at Redmane Castle after the Radahn fight.
- Find her new body. At the Three Sisters in Liurnia, go to the ruined building north-east of Ranni’s Rise. Roll or attack the floor to reveal a hidden staircase down to a cellar full of still puppets. Pass through the illusory wall at the far end, find the puppet that looks like Sellen and place the glintstone in it.
- Answer the gold sign. You need to have defeated Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon for this step. Outside the door to the Grand Library in the Academy of Raya Lucaria, two summon signs now wait, one gold and one red. Take the gold one to help Sellen fight off Witch-Hunter Jerren. Beating him gives you his Eccentric’s Set.
- Visit the new headmistress. After the fight, Sellen sits where Rennala used to be. Talk to her for the Glintstone Kris. If you have not told her where Lusat is yet, find him now and do it to get the Starlight Shards. Azur and Lusat’s armour, such as Azur’s Glintstone Crown and Lusat’s Glintstone Crown, can now be picked up where you found them.
- See what she became. Reload after telling her about Lusat. Sellen has turned into a Graven Mass at the side of the room, and the Witch’s Glintstone Crown lies there for you. You can still buy sorceries from her and hand her scrolls.
Missable steps & failure conditions
- Talk to Jerren after Radahn. Jerren only appears at the Witchbane Ruins if you spoke to him at Redmane Castle after defeating Radahn. Do that before you head south.
- Rennala must be defeated. The two summon signs at the Grand Library only matter once Rennala is beaten.
- Gold or red, not both. The red sign lets you help Jerren kill Sellen instead. That ends her story for good. See Jerren’s Questline for that route.
- Killing Sellen at the Three Sisters gives you her Bell Bearing and the Witch’s Glintstone Crown, but ends the questline.
- Lusat’s reward is not missable. You can tell her where Lusat is even after she moves to the Academy, and the last step waits for that talk.
Endings & consequences
- Castellan Jerren. Siding with Sellen means killing Jerren in the fight. Siding with him ends her life instead.
- The Academy. With Rennala gone, Sellen takes her place and has the bodies of Azur and Lusat brought back so the Academy can study the primeval current.
- Red Wolf of Radagon. Once her glintstone is in the new body, Sellen can be summoned against the Red Wolf of Radagon in the Academy. In practice you rarely get there in that order.
- Preceptor Seluvis. Sellen owes Seluvis for helping her after her expulsion, and the puppet cellar where her new body waits is his.
