Age of Fracture is the default ending of Elden Ring: you finish the game, mend the Elden Ring as it is, and become Elden Lord. No questline or special item is needed, which makes it the easiest of the six to reach.
What the ending is
This is Marika’s legacy taken more or less at face value. You take up the fractured Ring without adding any of the mending runes that other characters offer, and you rule over the new Age as Elden Lord. It is one of the four endings where you become Marika‘s Elden Lord, alongside Age of Order, Age of the Duskborn and Blessing of Despair.
Requirements
- Finish the game by defeating the Elden Beast.
- Do not carry the Frenzied Flame when you reach the end (or remove it first with Miquella’s Needle).
That is all. Unlike every other ending, Age of Fracture does not depend on finishing any side quest.
How to trigger it
After the final boss you wake in a room with Marika’s statue and a Site of Grace. Interact with the statue and choose to mend the Elden Ring without selecting a rune. Even if you are holding mending runes from other questlines, you can simply skip them and still get this ending. The grace nearby lets you leave and return later if you want to finish more of the world first.
How to avoid locking it out
The Frenzied Flame can take this ending away. If you accept it from the Three Fingers in the Frenzied Flame Proscription, every ending except Lord of Frenzied Flame is locked. You can undo that by using Miquella’s Needle when it prompts you at the Dragonlord Placidusax arena, which reopens the other endings and permanently closes the Frenzied Flame one.
What it means
In this ending you carry out the plan of the Two Fingers, using the Tarnished to bring back the stability the Lands Between lost when the Elden Ring was shattered. The Golden Order is kept as close as possible to what it was, and the old status quo returns. Whether that is a restoration or simply a patch on a broken world is left for you to decide.
