Age of the Duskborn

How to get the Age of the Duskborn ending: complete Fia's questline, take the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince from her and use it at Marika's statue.

Age of the Duskborn is the ending where you mend the Elden Ring with Fia’s Mending Rune of the Death-Prince. It requires completing Fia’s questline, which in turn needs part of Ranni’s questline.

What the ending is

This is the legacy of Fia, Deathbed Companion and Godwyn, the Prince of Death. The Golden Order was created by sealing away the Rune of Death; this ending forges a new order with death restored and the principle of life in death built into it. Those Who Live in Death are allowed to live in peace beside the living, and you rule as Elden Lord over the Age of the Duskborn.

Requirements

You need the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince, and Fia’s questline is the only source. The main beats:

How to trigger it

Beat the Elden Beast and you arrive in a room with Marika’s statue and a Site of Grace. Interact with the statue and pick the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince from the list of mending runes. That starts the Age of the Duskborn. If you are not ready yet, the grace lets you travel elsewhere and come back later; nothing is decided until you touch the statue.

How to avoid locking it out

Because the Divine Tower of Liurnia step depends on Ranni’s questline, push Ranni’s quest far enough to get the Carian Inverted Statue. When you talk to Fia by Godwyn’s body in the Deeproot Depths, pick the option to be held. Choosing the other answer does not lock you out, and you can change your mind by talking to her again.

The Frenzied Flame can take this ending away. If you accept it from the Three Fingers in the Frenzied Flame Proscription, every ending except Lord of Frenzied Flame is locked. You can undo that by using Miquella’s Needle when it prompts you at the Dragonlord Placidusax arena, which reopens the other endings and permanently closes the Frenzied Flame one.

What it means

Where the Golden Order was built by locking death away, the Duskborn ending brings it back and makes room for the dead instead of shutting them out. It is a very different world from the one Marika built, and how you feel about it is your call.
