Boggart’s Questline
Blackguard Big Boggart is a big, rough ex-convict who has lost sight of his guidance of grace and now runs a little prawn business at the Boilprawn Shack in Liurnia. He also happens to have a necklace that belongs to Rya. Under the scary first impression he is good company, and he cooks a mean prawn.
Later he sets up camp by the moat outside Leyndell, selling crabs and warning you about the Dung Eater, a man he once shared a gaol with. His story is short, and how it ends depends entirely on whether you set that killer free.
Rewards
- Rya’s Necklace, bought for 1,000 runes, which you return to Rya
- Boiled Prawn and later Boiled Crab, endless stock in his shop
- Spread Out gesture, for buying your first prawn
- His summon sign against Magma Wyrm Makar
- Blackguard’s Iron Mask, Iron Ball (with Braggart’s Roar) and Blackguard’s Bell Bearing, from his body
- Seedbed Curse, from his body after the Dung Eater’s attack
Walkthrough
- Talk to Rya first. From the Laskyar Ruins Site of Grace, head north-west to find Rya in a gazebo and talk to her about her stolen necklace.
- Buy back the necklace. Keep going north-west to the Boilprawn Shack. Ask Boggart for the necklace and agree to his deal. He sells you Rya’s Necklace for 1,000 runes.
- Buy a Boiled Prawn. After the necklace he sells an endless supply of Boiled Prawns. Buy at least one: he gives you the Spread Out gesture, and his summon sign appears at the Ruin-Strewn Precipice Overlook for the fight against Magma Wyrm Makar in the Ruin-Strewn Precipice.
- Find him outside the capital. After you rest at a Site of Grace on the Altus Plateau, Boggart moves to the outer moat below the walls of Leyndell in the Capital Outskirts. He now sells Boiled Crabs too. Talk to him until he has told you everything about the Dung Eater.
- Decide about the Dung Eater. If you never free the Dung Eater, Boggart simply stays at the moat with his crabs. If you do free him, Boggart has more to say and finally warns you that the killer is lurking nearby.
- The ending at the moat. After that final warning, reload the area. Boggart is bound to a chair. Talk to him and the Dung Eater invades you. Once you have beaten the invader, Boggart is dead. Loot his body for his gear and a Seedbed Curse.
Missable steps & failure conditions
- Freeing the Dung Eater kills Boggart. Releasing the Dung Eater from his cell seals Boggart’s fate.
- Buy one of each before he dies. His Bell Bearing only adds Boiled Prawns and Boiled Crabs to the shop if you bought at least one of each from him while he was alive.
- Killing him early. You can kill him in Liurnia for his gear, but that ends his story there and then.
Endings & consequences
- Rya. The necklace you buy from him is what moves Rya‘s story forward. See Rya’s Questline.
- Dung Eater. Boggart’s death is a step in Dung Eater’s Questline, and the Seedbed Curse on his body counts toward the five you need there.
- Boggart’s fate. Leave the Dung Eater locked up and Boggart lives on at the moat. Free him and Boggart dies.
