Corhyn and Goldmask’s Questline
Brother Corhyn is the friendly cleric at the Roundtable Hold who sells you incantations. Once you reach the Altus Plateau he sets off to find Goldmask, a silent Tarnished scholar of the Golden Order. You reunite the two, and Corhyn becomes the disciple who reads meaning into every small gesture of his mute master.
The heart of the quest is a riddle about Radagon that only you can solve. Follow the pair to the Mountaintops of the Giants and you are rewarded with the Mending Rune of Perfect Order, the key to the Age of Order ending. It is not a happy story for Corhyn, though. Faith and doubt pull him apart along the way.
Rewards
- Discus of Light in Corhyn’s shop, once he has joined Goldmask
- Immutable Shield in Corhyn’s shop, after you reveal Radagon’s secret
- Mending Rune of Perfect Order, from Goldmask’s body in the Ashen Capital
- Goldmask’s Rags, Gold Bracelets and Gold Waistwrap, from the same body after a reload
- Flail, Corhyn’s Robe and Corhyn’s Bell Bearing, left behind on the Mountaintops if you offered him the tonic (he drops the same items if killed)
- The Age of Order ending
Walkthrough
- Meet Corhyn at the Roundtable Hold. He sits in the central chamber of the Roundtable Hold and teaches incantations. Hand him prayerbooks such as the Two Fingers’ Prayerbook to widen his stock.
- Buy what you want before he leaves (optional). Once you reach the Altus Plateau, Corhyn tells you he wants to go looking for Goldmask, and he soon leaves the Hold. His shop travels with him.
- Find Corhyn on the Altus Plateau. He stands north of the Altus Highway Junction Site of Grace. At this point he has no idea where his scholar is.
- Find Goldmask. Goldmask stands at the very end of the broken Forest-Spanning Greatbridge, staring at the Erdtree. Interact with him.
- Tell Corhyn where Goldmask is. Go back to Corhyn near Altus Highway Junction and choose to reveal Goldmask’s location.
- Return to the bridge. Corhyn now stands next to Goldmask on the greatbridge. Talk to him until he is done. From here on the two travel together, and Corhyn adds Discus of Light to his shop.
- Find the pair in Leyndell. In Leyndell, Royal Capital they stand near the colosseum. Corhyn is frustrated: his master is stuck on the question of who Radagon really was.
- Solve the riddle of Radagon. You need the Law of Regression incantation, which Corhyn teaches once you give him the Golden Order Principia. Take the lift near the Erdtree Sanctuary, walk to the statue of Radagon past it and cast Law of Regression in front of the statue. Then talk to Goldmask to share the secret that Radagon and Marika are one, and talk to Corhyn afterwards. He adds Immutable Shield to his shop.
- Meet them on the Mountaintops. The pair moves to a bridge south of the Stargazer’s Ruins in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Corhyn is now troubled by his master’s doubts about the Golden Order.
- Decide about the Tonic of Forgetfulness (optional). While Corhyn is on the Mountaintops you can offer him the Tonic of Forgetfulness. He refuses it and it stays in your inventory, but the offer alone changes how his story ends. See the consequences below.
- Claim the Mending Rune. After defeating Maliketh, the Black Blade, Goldmask’s body lies on a slope near the colosseum in Leyndell, Ashen Capital. Loot him for the Mending Rune of Perfect Order. Reload the area and return to the body to collect Goldmask’s Rags, the Gold Bracelets and the Gold Waistwrap.
- See Corhyn one last time. If you never offered him the tonic, he appears in the Ashen Capital near the huge spear of Gransax. Talk to him until he is done. After you rest at a Site of Grace, he is gone. If you did offer the tonic, he stays on the Mountaintops after Goldmask leaves. Reload the area and he has disappeared, leaving his Flail, robe and Bell Bearing behind.
- Choose the Age of Order. After the final battle with the Elden Beast, interact with Marika’s statue and choose the Mending Rune of Perfect Order to end the game with the Age of Order.
Missable steps & failure conditions
- You need Law of Regression. Without it you cannot reveal Radagon’s secret, and the pair stays stuck in Leyndell. Give Corhyn the Golden Order Principia so he can teach it, and cast it right in front of the Radagon statue.
- Goldmask cannot be killed. If you attack him he simply vanishes and returns to his last spot after you rest at a Site of Grace, so a stray swing will not ruin the quest.
- Corhyn can be killed. He drops his Flail, robe and Bell Bearing, but his part of the story ends there, so leave him in peace if you want to see it through.
- The tonic only changes Corhyn. Offering him the Tonic of Forgetfulness decides his fate but does not affect Goldmask’s questline or the Mending Rune.
- The Frenzied Flame blocks this ending. If you take the flame from the Three Fingers, the only ending left is Lord of Frenzied Flame until you remove it with Miquella’s Needle.
Endings & consequences
- Corhyn without the tonic. He turns up in the Ashen Capital, denounces his master as a madman who betrayed the Golden Order and loses his mind under the burning Erdtree. After that he is gone.
- Corhyn with the tonic. He stays behind on the Mountaintops, still waiting for a master who has already left, and eventually vanishes, leaving his gear.
- Goldmask. He returns to Leyndell after the Erdtree burns and dies there, leaving the Mending Rune of Perfect Order for you.
- Endings. The rune unlocks the Age of Order, Goldmask’s vision of a Golden Order made perfect by removing the fickleness of the gods.
