Fia’s Questline
Fia, Deathbed Companion spends her days in a small room in the Roundtable Hold, offering a warm embrace to any Tarnished who asks. Behind the soft voice hides a secret: she is the companion of Godwyn the Golden, the Prince of Death, and she dreams of becoming a mother to Those Who Live in Death.
Her story is woven together with those of Rogier, D, Hunter of the Dead and Ranni, and it ends far below the world in the Deeproot Depths. See it through and you earn the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince, the key to the Age of the Duskborn ending.
Walkthrough
- Meet Fia in the Roundtable Hold. Her room is next to Smithing Master Hewg. Let her hold you and she gives you a Baldachin’s Blessing, as long as you are not already carrying one.
- Follow the knifeprint lead. Once Rogier has arrived at the Hold and talked about the Night of the Black Knives, ask Fia about it and she hands you a Knifeprint Clue. It points you to the Black Knifeprint, carried by a wounded Black Knife Assassin in the Black Knife Catacombs in Liurnia. Give the knifeprint to Rogier.
- Deliver the Weathered Dagger. After the Radahn Festival has begun, Fia asks you to return a Weathered Dagger to its rightful owner. That owner is D, Hunter of the Dead, who stands in the Hold. Give it to him, then reload the area.
- Find Fia over D’s body. A previously locked room in the Roundtable Hold is now open. Fia stands inside, over D’s corpse. Talk to her until she has nothing left to say and she disappears.
- Defeat Fia’s Champions. Make your way to the Prince of Death’s Throne in the Deeproot Depths and beat Fia’s Champions. Rest at the Site of Grace and you find Fia sitting before Godwyn’s body.
- Ask to be held. Fia offers you the chance to end her. Choose to be held instead. Picking the other answer does not ruin anything, and you can change your mind by talking to her again. While she holds you, choose to talk in secret and she tells you about the Cursemark of Death.
- Fetch the Cursemark from the Divine Tower. You need the Carian Inverted Statue, which Ranni gives you during her questline. Place it on the pedestal in the first room of the Carian Study Hall, work your way through the hall and climb the Divine Tower of Liurnia. The Cursemark of Death lies on the body at the very top.
- Give Fia the Cursemark. Back in the Deeproot Depths, talk in secret with Fia again until you can hand over the Cursemark. She rewards you with a Radiant Baldachin’s Blessing. Talk to her until she is done, then reload the area and you find her asleep.
- Enter the Deathbed Dream. Interact with Fia’s sleeping body to enter the Deathbed Dream and defeat Lichdragon Fortissax. You return to the Deeproot Depths afterwards.
- Take the Mending Rune. Loot the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince from Fia’s body. Reload the area once more and you find her dead, with D, Beholder of Death standing over her.
Missable steps & failure conditions
- You need Ranni’s help. Without the Carian Inverted Statue from Ranni‘s questline you cannot reach the Divine Tower of Liurnia, and Fia’s story stalls in the Deeproot Depths.
- The dagger waits for the Radahn Festival. Fia only gives you the Weathered Dagger once the festival has begun.
- Your answer in the Deeproot Depths. Agreeing when Fia offers you the chance to kill her does not lock you out. Talk to her again and you can still choose to be held.
- Attacking Fia. She does not fight back with her own hands, but skull-like projectiles appear above her and hunt you down. Killing her ends her questline.
Endings & consequences
- D, Hunter of the Dead dies. Handing him the Weathered Dagger leads straight to his death at Fia’s hands.
- D, Beholder of Death takes revenge. D’s twin brother tracks Fia down after she makes the Mending Rune and kills her at the Prince of Death’s Throne.
- Rogier. Rogier appears among Fia’s Champions in the Deeproot Depths.
- Ranni. The Cursemark of Death is taken from the body at the top of the Divine Tower of Liurnia, so the two stories run side by side. See Ranni’s Questline.
- Age of the Duskborn. With the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince in hand, you can choose this ending after the final battle.
