Age of the Stars is Ranni’s ending. To unlock it you must complete Ranni’s questline, then touch her blue summon sign near Marika’s statue after the final boss instead of interacting with the statue.
What the ending is
This is the legacy of Ranni the Witch. Rather than ruling as Marika’s Elden Lord, you summon Ranni to succeed Marika as a god. Her order is not one of gold, but of the stars, the moon and the cold night. She chooses not to make herself an object of worship and keeps her order, the Lands Between and the cycle of life and death far apart. You become her Elden Lord consort, and the two of you leave the Lands Between on a thousand-year journey into the dark.
Requirements
- Complete Ranni’s questline. It is long and spans much of the game; the Ranni questline walkthrough covers every step.
- Do not carry the Frenzied Flame at the end, or her sign will not appear.
Ranni’s quest also opens doors for others: the Carian Inverted Statue you get along the way is what leads to the Divine Tower of Liurnia, a required stop in Fia’s questline for the Age of the Duskborn.
How to trigger it
Defeat the Elden Beast. In the room with Marika’s statue and the Site of Grace, Ranni’s blue summon sign appears near the statue if her questline is complete. Touch the sign, not the statue, and the Age of the Stars begins. The grace lets you leave and come back if you want to wait.
How to avoid locking it out
If you have inherited the Frenzied Flame, Ranni’s sign will not appear at all unless you have removed the flame with Miquella’s Needle. The Three Fingers in the Frenzied Flame Proscription lock out every ending except Lord of Frenzied Flame; using the Needle when prompted at the Dragonlord Placidusax arena lifts that lock and permanently closes the Frenzied Flame ending.
What it means
Age of the Stars is the ending where the Tarnished hands godhood to Ranni and stands beside her as consort instead of ruling alone. It removes the certainties of faith that existed under Marika and keeps the new order at a distance from the world. Whether that feels like freedom or loss is yours to decide.
