The base game of Elden Ring has 47 gestures. Every new character starts with twelve of them, and the other 35 are scattered across the world as loot or NPC rewards. Shadow of the Erdtree adds a few more. Many of them are missable, so the table below also tells you how each one can slip away.
How gestures work
There are three kinds of gestures. Some let you keep walking while you perform them, some freeze you until the animation finishes, and some keep you in place until you do something else. A few also hide your weapons while they play. On PlayStation you can skip the menu entirely: hold Triangle and move the controller to fire off a gesture. It’s handy, but it’s also easy to trigger by accident. If that keeps happening, clear the gesture slots tied to the movements you make most.
A few gestures are good for more than showing off. Erudition solves the Converted Fringe Tower puzzle, and without it you lose that reward. Extreme Repentance can calm an angry Patches in the middle of a fight. O Mother opens a hidden area in the DLC.
Gestures you start with
Point Forwards, Point Upwards, Point Downwards, Wait!, Wave, Beckon, Warm Welcome, Jump for Joy, Rallying Cry, Bow, Rest, Dejection.
