Scadu Altus
Scadu Altus is the great plateau in the middle of the Realm of Shadow, and sooner or later every road leads up here. Shadow Keep, the fortress of Messmer the Impaler, looms over its northern side, while Castle Ensis guards the way in from below.
It is a big, busy region. Out in the open you will run into Messmer’s soldiers and their camps, roaming Bloodfiends, Vulgar Militia lurking outside the Darklight Catacombs, and a Black Knight holding a hillside camp in front of the keep. To the east lie Bonny Village, Rabbath’s Rise, Midra’s Manse and the Cathedral of Manus Metyr, with the Finger Ruins of Miyr beneath it. The Fort of Reprimand and Moorth Ruins are found here too.
Near the Highroad Cross grace you will meet a Hornsent warrior, and a sending gate close by, opened with an Imbued Sword Key, leads to a hidden area past twin waterfalls. Keep an eye out for a Ghostflame Dragon and the Furnace Golem near the encampment south of the keep.

Lore
This is Messmer’s land. His army holds the plateau, and his keep stands at its centre. Long before the crusade, the eastern part belonged to people like Spellmachinist Rabbath, whose rise is now in the hands of Count Ymir.
