Romina, Saint of the Bud

Romina, Saint of the Bud waits in the Church of the Bud in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. She once tended the church’s sacred bud. When Messmer’s army burned it, she found a twisted god in the ashes and remade it into scarlet rot. Her body slowly changed with it, taking on parts of flowers, centipedes, scorpions and butterflies.

She is a mandatory boss. Only after she falls can you burn the Sealing Tree and head for Enir-Ilim.

This boss is part of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. To reach the Land of Shadow, you first need to defeat Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood, then touch the withered arm in Mohgwyn Palace.

How to beat it

Phase 1. Romina attacks with a poleblade, a centipede body and a scorpion tail, and these parts move on their own, so one swing can hide another. Her most common opener is a sweep with the centipede part from right to left. Roll forward through it and you end up close enough for a heavy attack. Stay aggressive but watch for the dash that often follows.

Phase 2. At half health she starts summoning butterflies that explode a short moment later. Her big move is a whirlwind surrounded by butterflies. When her body lights up pink, sprint away to the edge of the arena and you will avoid it. She repeats it later with less warning.

Lore

Romina took in some of the Aeonia butterflies that Malenia, Blade of Miquella left behind after her battle with Radahn. The Kindred of Rot in the Land of Shadow turned red after she accepted them.
