Cocoon of the Empyrean

The Cocoon of the Empyrean is a Site of Grace inside the boss arena of Mohg, Lord of Blood, at the top of the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum in Mohgwyn Palace. It only appears once Mohg is dead.

The cocoon itself rests inside an enormous pelvic bone and holds the body of Miquella. Eight legless bearded statues stand on either side of it.

This is also the doorway to the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Touching Miquella’s withered arm takes you into the Realm of Shadow, the same way Needle Knight Leda and Miquella’s other followers went before you.

How to get there

Reach Mohgwyn Palace, climb to the top of the Dynasty Mausoleum and defeat Mohg. The grace lights up in his arena afterwards, and Miquella’s arm is right there in the cocoon.

Lore

Miquella had placed a powerful charm on Mohg, who cut him from the roots of the Haligtree in Elphael, carried him across the Consecrated Snowfield and brought him to his palace. There Mohg fed the sleeping Empyrean his accursed blood, hoping to raise him to godhood with himself as the next Elden Lord.

Sir Ansbach, commander of Mohg’s Pureblood Knights, once tried to break that charm by attacking Miquella. He managed to wound him, but ended up falling under the same spell (see Ansbach’s Questline).
