Ranni the Witch
Ranni the Witch is the youngest child of Queen Rennala and Radagon, a Carian princess and a demigod who threw away her own body to escape the fate the gods had planned for her. You first meet her at the Church of Elleh under the name Renna, a mysterious woman who gives you your first spirit summons.
Later she waits at the top of Ranni’s Rise behind Caria Manor, cold, sharp and secretive. If you join her service, her questline takes you across the whole map, deep underground and up to the Moonlight Altar. It is one of the richest stories in the game, and it ends with one of its most loved endings.

- Caria Manor. Fight your way through the manor and beat Royal Knight Loretta to reach the Three Sisters.

- Carian Study Hall. Place the statue to turn the hall upside down, climb to the Divine Tower of Liurnia and take the Cursemark of Death from Ranni’s old body.
- Renna’s Rise. Take the Sending Gate down to the Ainsel River, pass through Nokstella, find Ranni’s miniature doll and follow it through the Lake of Rot.
- Grand Cloister. Beat Astel, Naturalborn of the Void and take the lift up to the Moonlight Altar.
- Cathedral of Manus Celes. Collect the Dark Moon Ring from a chest in Rennala’s Grand Library in Raya Lucaria, go down below the cathedral and give the ring to Ranni.
Fate & endings
Giving Ranni the Dark Moon Ring makes her your consort, and you receive the Dark Moon Greatsword. At the end of the game, you can summon her to choose the Age of the Stars ending, in which Ranni leads the world into a new, distant age under the moon.
Not everyone in her circle survives her story. Blaidd and Iji in particular pay a heavy price.
Lore
Ranni was chosen by the Two Fingers to become a god, an Empyrean. She refused. Using the Black Knives, she stole a piece of the Rune of Death and killed her own body on the Night of the Black Knives, the same night Godwyn the Golden died. She now lives in a small doll with four arms, a body she chose for herself.
Notes & tips
- Never give her Seluvis’s Amber Draught. It stalls her story until you seek absolution at the Church of Vows.
- Ranni cannot be killed. If you attack her, she simply leaves.
