Hyetta’s Questline

Lightseeker Hyetta is a blind woman wandering Liurnia of the Lakes. She believes a distant light will lead her to her true calling as a Finger Maiden, and the only way she can see it is by eating Shabriri Grapes. You bring her those grapes one by one, and eventually you get to tell her what they really are. It does not go down well, but it does not stop her either.

She only shows up once Irina of Morne is dead, and she shares Irina’s face and voice. Her road ends far below the capital, in front of the door of the Three Fingers. Whether you walk through that door is a huge decision: it is the gateway to the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending, and it costs you Melina.

Walkthrough

  1. Make sure Irina’s story is over. Hyetta only appears after Irina of Morne‘s questline has ended with her death (see Irina and Edgar’s Questline). If you kill Irina yourself early, Hyetta never shows up.
  2. Meet Hyetta at the Lake-Facing Cliffs. She stands near the Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes. Talk to her until she runs out of words and she asks you for a Shabriri Grape.
  3. Bring the first grape. The closest one lies south of her, inside the rear entrance of Stormveil Castle. That door is locked from the other side, so you have to come at it from inside the castle, through the throne room of Godrick the Grafted. Hand the grape over.
  4. Second grape at the Purified Ruins. Hyetta moves to a spot near the Purified Ruins and asks again. The nearest grape is in the ruins just east of her, in a secret cellar hidden under some wooden planks. Give it to her and talk until she is done.
  5. Third grape by the Gate Town Bridge. She now waits just north of the Gate Town Bridge Site of Grace. The last grape is dropped by Edgar, who ambushes you as Edgar the Revenger at the Revenger’s Shack, north of the Minor Erdtree in western Liurnia.
  6. Tell her the truth (optional choice). After the third grape you can tell Hyetta that the grapes are human eyes. Listen to her reaction, then reload the area and talk to her again on the same spot.
  7. Find her at Bellum Church. Hyetta moves to the ruined Bellum Church along the Bellum Highway. This time she wants a special Fingerprint Grape.
  8. Get the Fingerprint Grape. Festering Fingerprint Vyke invades you at the Church of Inhibition in eastern Liurnia. Defeat him, take the grape back to Hyetta and talk until she has nothing more to say.
  9. Follow her below the capital. Defeat Morgott, the Omen King to break the seal at the Cathedral of the Forsaken in Leyndell, Royal Capital. That opens the way down into the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, where Hyetta waits at the bottom of the Frenzied Flame Proscription, across the hall from the Site of Grace. Talk to her until she tells you to strip off your armor and go to the scorched door past her.
  10. Meet the Three Fingers (point of no return). Take off all your armor and interact with the door. A cutscene follows in which you meet the Three Fingers and inherit the Flame of Frenzy. Read the warnings below before you do this.
  11. Make her a Finger Maiden. Go back to Hyetta and talk to her twice. She asks you to lay your hand on her, and the Frenzied Flame burns her away. She leaves behind the Frenzied Flame Seal and five Frenzyflame Stones.

Missable steps & failure conditions

  • Irina must die the right way. Hyetta only appears once Irina‘s questline has played out. Killing Irina yourself early keeps Hyetta from ever appearing.
  • Taking the Flame of Frenzy is huge. Opening the Three Fingers’ door permanently removes Melina as your companion and locks you onto the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending. The only way back is to use Miquella’s Needle in the arena of Dragonlord Placidusax, which removes the flame for good. Melina does not come back either way.
  • Hyetta can be killed. Her blood works for the Lord of Blood’s Favor in White Mask VarrĂ©‘s questline, but killing her obviously ends her own story.
  • Reload after the truth. If you tell her what the grapes really are at the Gate Town Bridge, you need to reload the area and talk to her again before she moves on.

Endings & consequences

  • Hyetta’s fate. If you take the flame and return to her, she becomes a Finger Maiden for the Frenzied Flame and burns away for good.
  • Melina. Inheriting the Flame of Frenzy ends your journey with Melina for good.
  • Endings. Holding the Frenzied Flame overrides every other ending: at the end of the game the only option is to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame, unless you removed the flame with Miquella’s Needle.
  • Irina and Hyetta. Hyetta shares Irina’s face and voice and only appears after Irina’s death, which points to some kind of rebirth.
  • Not required for the ending. You can find the Three Fingers and take the flame without ever meeting Hyetta, and her questline still works normally if you start it afterwards.
